n O ooo....
a pinch and punch on the last day of the month and no returns from you! hahaha :p
it s leap year pepople.. the 29th of feb only comes around once every 4 years so must make use of this opportunity to write the date! haha

man.. i woke up this morning didnt feel quite well.. sore body and blocked nose! man.. hahaha...
went to church.. was kinda stressed during worship loh... coz had to do everything seeing my brother is such a musical perfectionist! ^^ but yeh.. glad it went ok.. i didn think it was that bad except for the fact that the speakers kept echo-ing and also sometimes cutting out the music for some reason.. so yehz... hmm...
then during the service it was quite funny.. coz the fire alarm went off.. n my did happened to be talking about fire and safety precautions.. then in sunday school they happen to be talking about the fire of God.. lolx :D how strange... hehe.. we went to whitfords for lunch.. had a yummy frugitevous (i know this is the wrong spelling).. still having it here in my room atm.. since i didnt finish it at whitfords... haha.. n guess wat i ate? it won't be too hard to guess.. tom yum noodle soup! the vegetarian one.. hahaha.... got back home.. unload stuff...

going out tonight.. but i think i might take a nap before that.. also have to go and return kimberly the holland v vcds... haha..

didnt have to go to school that early but nevertheless i got there at around 8pm...
wrote a card and gave a little flower to the teacher i was working with just to express my thanks and gratitude for letting me be apart of her yr2 class :) hehe
but basically what we did today was the boring stuff of teachers' work i think.. hahaha :D
first of all, we had to do a stock take of the 'maths stuff' they had.. man.. but i couldnt believe the resources they use to teach maths now is so creative and innovative.. with dominoes games, all these blocks, toys, etc... maths is becoming to look very fun! did a texter border for the heading of the mardi gras for the yr3s and stuck that onto cardboard... had a little break and then had to do the texter border for some of the work the yr1s did.. after that we had to work on the portfolios for the kindys i think.. hehe.. or preps.. lolx :D so cool.. their portfolio... i wish i had one when i was little.. i mean, jus tbeing able to look back on what u did as a child would be good.. but i must say i am amazed at the amount of resources they have.. laminator, stacks of cardboard, a really good colour printer,etc... but yeh.. anyway, that's wat we did for the whole day!!! to think that part of teacher's work is doing these mandane stuff! spent 7h doing it! 8am-3pm!!! hahaha :D it was nevertheless alright.. i guess it did made me think about teachers' work in terms of teaching but indirectly related to teaching.. like for the portfolios, well.. the stuff they put in there would consist of the things you taught them but the porfolio itself, putting where term1 is, the title, and stuff like that on it is not really teacher isit!!

had the interview with the principal today as well.. some really interesting things came up as well.. like how education and the way education is taught is changing and evolving all the time... and also how a teacher now not only educates or takes care of the academic side of the whole but has to incorporate and look out for the WHOLE child.. so in a way the role of a teacher is becoming pastoral... ehhehe :p n also how teachers are professionals but the way does not reflect that and also how parents have an INTEREST in educaiton but they don't neccessarily or shouldn't DICTATE how it should go because they are not the professionals.. also, how the school must listen to the parents because they are the clients and private schools in a way operate like businesses.. n how actually the way the children are taught is good and all and basically the kids are good kids.. you can't blame them if their parents are rich.. n they probably don't even know that their parents are rich anyway! but i really found out that the issue most concerning teachers is that of TIME! that's wat the deputy said and so did my teacher.. its like you have a set time to do things at school.. and it is just not enough.. you really need an assistant... even so, there are endless amount of things you have to do and you have to draw a line between when you think is enough otherwise you will keep going and doing.. the greatest misconception as verified by those 2 parties is the community seeing a teacher's job as one that is from 8-3.30pm.. and having lots of holidays.. in fact, the 6 week break that the students have, the teacher probably has only about 3 weeks because they have to go into the schools and prepare the classroom and stuff for childnre before they get back... and also teachers start work much earlier than 8pm and also finish much later than 3.30pm.. they leave the school between 4-7pm.. and often go back to the school during the weekends to do more work! teachers really are underpaid! which is a global issue facing teachers as such....

i dunno... just by my week at PLC, i really begin to realise how vast teachers' work is.. you can never really say just WHAT it is because it is defined through so many people in so many aspects..

man.. should see how much fieldnotes i took at PLC today.. too much! haha :D anyway, here are my thoughts on what happened today...

1. the life of a teacher is pretty hard.. (7am till dunno wat time of the day.. with so much work to do and meetings to attend!)
2. a teacher always has to be kind, loving, gentle.. they speak in a really smoothing voice.. like even when ur discipling the kids.. its not in a loud agressive voice.. unno whether thats natural or comes the more you teach...
3. lots of wat teachers do has to do with parent interaction... before class parents go in and talk with the teacher.. and also how this one teacher was talking about camp n how they are meant to train these girls to be independant young ladies and how the parents interferred with their work so its abit hard to do their job.. and how policies should be written up for camps next year.. which leads to my next point of:
4. teacher's don't only teach, they do sooo muchhh more! was just thinking of it in terms of a ballet performance for an audience.. all the audience sees is that say 2h of ballet which alludes to teaching.. but just to get that going, u have to do so much.. prepare costumes, sell tickets, book the venue where the ballet is to be held, practice, meet and co-ordiate all the ballerinas n stuff.. be familiar with new theatrical arts, etc.... this also kinda leads me back to my 1st point which is

...the life of a teacher is pretty hard that's my conclusion i think... so tiring!!!

but i have to say the kids are sooooo adorable! they just wanna hold ur hand when you have to go in 'pairs' except i ended up holding 2 girls hands.. so that isnt exactly a pair... one wanted a hug.. i dunno... we're not meant to touch them n stuff! ^^ hmmz.. then a couple of them came up and told me that they liked me.. haha.. sooo cute!!! :) they ask for my help and ask what im doing.. they try guessing my age and think im in my 20s 30s or 40s! do i look that old!?!!! ^^ lolz :D
i dunno.. i guess maybe it's the kids themselves and the love for them that makesteaching worthwhile.... or maybe the passion for teaching comes first from the passion for kids?!

pondering thought: maybe teachers' work is not actually work.. perhaps being a teacher is being who you are and so teachers' work is just what you happen to do because of who you are... sounds so philosophical... i dunnoz hey...

first day at PLC.. to have a look around n stuff.. surprisingly, it didnt take THAT long to get there.. traffic was good tho n i think i got mostly green lights.. hehe :p anywayz, all the teachers n staff there seem really nice... very friendly n helpful... really looking forward to next week! i will be in the yr 2 class with kelly i think.. so that would be good... :)
but i think its going to be so hard taking fieldnotes... esp when we just saw wat that teacher did in 5 minutes..
but when she told us an incident where the parents were happy that the pre-primary class were kinda mixed and the parents were too happy abptu it n stuff.. a 'controversy'.. she made a comment that 'you just can't please everyone'... it properly is an underlying issue in teacher's work... no matter what you do, you can't please everyone.. n also, i guess that's also how it is in life... but the hours of teacher's work is long.. she said she started work at 7.15am each day and teachers don't go home till anywhere between 4-7pm... n because you have to do yard duty/playground duty/recess duty and stuff like that, i guess teachers don't get the normal 1h lunch break that office people do...... man... i still wonder whether i wanna be a teacher... but the kids are cute cute cute! dunno if they will still be after teaching them day in and day out! hahaha :D

was just at uni to get my guild sticker.. now at the library... i think i will go to the red teapot for lunch and also needa talk to sherlene about our jazz dancing lessons! hehee :p tutoring at 5pm later today.....

ugh ugh! back to uni today!!! classes started at 10am...
anyway, on the way to uni i saw an accident.. or the aftermath of an accident.. ambulance, fireengines and police cars on the freeway.. half the car was gone and really really bad.. it made me scared n teary.. i dunno.. ithought the persons in the car would have died.. but later heard on the radio they were ok n send to RPH.. the accident didnt acutally happen on my side of the freeway but then my side was also jammed up! made me late for uni on the first day.. how embarrassing!

hmm... anyway, after uni went to lunch with my friend at subway in the city.. yum yum... subway actually has quite yummy food and the good thing is that it is healthy! hahaha :D went to koorong after that to get some aircon, kill time before picking my sis up from school as well.. went home.. lazed around for awhile before going tutoring!

got a major headache while i was tutoring... i thought it was because i was hungry.. so i came home and ate dinner while typing my songs for sunday worship.. hmm.. it did kinda go away but it came back later... ok.. at least it is better than a stomach ache.. i hate stomach aches! they hurt n kill ur tummy so much!!!!

in the evening, tian, michelle and david came over... was going to go out and watch the last samurai but then i had a headache.. was going to do QT as well but then i dunno didnt end up doing it.. we (david, mum, joy, michelle n me) ended up watching catch me if u can.. i think its a really good movie! :) hehe... shortly after the movie, all them left our house.. talked on the phone for awhile before going to sleep....

oh.. n did i forget to mention how HOT AND HUMID it was! went past 40 degrees and tomorrow is going to be 37 degreess.. how am i going to survive summer?!!!

wat a hot hot hot day!
was working at teapot again.. then later went to koorong to escape the heat! hehe.. was reading quite an interesting book there.. are you dateable?.. hmmz.. but i think its probably one of those books more practical for high school/teenagers hey.. hmmz.. but i still found it quite interesting.. hehee.... yeh.. bought a book there..
went to kaili's to do trial there... it was quite erm awkward.. coz everyone was doing something n stuff but i felt so out of place.. like walking around n stuff.. then i had to polish the cutlery or soemthing.. n stack stuff for the dishwasher... they were quite nice though.. like they kinda 'paid' me in vouchers to spend ath kailis.. its more of a token i guess.. but better than nothing right!?

later went to david's house.. was talking to his mum n i dunno.. i think i should really pursue med. if that's wat i want ey... hmm..
but anyway, i think today is one of the nicest days david has been to me... he cooked for me coz i was hungry n said some complimenting stuff which was a change since he always likes teasing me! haha.. must learn to appreciate these moments since they come rare... lolz :D david ru reading this!?!! hahaha
